What does advertising hope to stimulate? Purchasing, of course! Similarly, advertising itself must be stimulated by something. Advertising is a creature which needs a context: an environment or medium in which to exist. Case Study #2: "Turn your product catalog into an online library" The "Free Soundtrack Music" stock music library was originally a set of four plain html files listing mp3 audio tracks which could be licensed for use in YouTube videos, home movies and presentations.
